Dream Installment 3: Meghan and Taika Waititi
Dreamer: “Tim from Toronto” (again!)
Key elements: Meghan, Taika Waititi, murder mystery, ocean, terrace, leash, Hugo, handsomeness
Another one from Tim in Toronto, who writes . . .
Meghan, you were in another dream. Sorry, it was just a walk-on. We didn't interact and you had no lines. In the dream I was at a murder mystery weekend by the ocean (my dreams are telling me I need to get away, obviously). It was at the beginning of the weekend when everyone was mingling on a terrace. Over by the balustrade, I noticed you walking a naked man on a leash. That man was Taika Waititi. Now, this says nothing about you. I had the dream shortly after Hugo appeared in a video you'd posted. I think that dream detail was just my subconscious comparing (favourably) Hugo and Waititi. In the past I have commented on some of your posts about how handsome Hugo is. I try not to do it too much. He is a handsome beast, though.
I did it! I'm in the club! I finally had a heterodox podcaster dream, featuring none other than Jesse Singal.
I was in the lobby of a sort of conference center. I was chatting with some middle-aged people. I noticed that Jesse Singal, wearing a 3 piece blue suit with no tie, was nearby. Reader, did I tell him how much I dislike the 1950's style "you big lug" banter between Katie Herzog and him that goes on for 20 minutes at the start of each episode? I did not! Instead, I started waxing on to the other guests how great Jesse Singel was - brave, thorough, excellent critical thinking skills, etc. Worth listening to. A real journalist.
At this, a panicked look came to Jesse's eyes. He got up and rushed away, making retching noises. I followed him, "Jesse, what's wrong?" He had thrown up on one of his lapels. He said that he tried really hard and it was distressing that someone would insult him with such obvious sarcasm. "Jesse, no, I'm totally sincere!" I felt sad that such an accomplished guy as Jesse had deep self doubt.
Then I woke up.
If everyone in a dream is supposed to be oneself, this totally tracks for me. Sad, I know.
