It’s been three weeks since my house burned to the ground in the Los Angeles wildfires. Here are some thoughts from today.

CORRECTION: Tesla batteries are much bigger and heavier than stated. I’m told the Model S battery is around 1200 pounds and contains 7200 cells. The model Y, I’m told, is even heavier at approximately 1700 pounds. I regret the error.

Many of you have asked how you can help me get back on my feet. As much as it makes me squirm, we set up a tip jar so you can make a one-time (or any number of times you want) donation in any amount. Your help is deeply appreciated.

Unrelated to fires: I was a guest on two of my favorite podcasts last week, Uncomfortable Conversations with Josh Szeps and The Gist with Mike Pesca. Check them out if you’re not sick of the sound of my voice!
