What a delightful interview and discussion. What a wonderful guest. I am also an older Cradle Catholic, who was a child during the time of no legal abortion, when a ten year old classmates circa 1970 reported being knocked up by her older brother, and her mother "giving her something " to make it go away. More than one junior high school classmate was sent down to Florida to spend a half a year with her grandmother, co-workers at minimum wage jobs had mysterious abdominal "tumours" ...

I have pretty much Been a one issue voter because of abortion rights. However. I was 13 in 1973 when it became legal, the same year my mother had her last baby. I grew up knowing the joy of a new baby in the home ... and all it took out of everyone else, including me, the designated nanny.

At the same time, it frustrates me how any conversation about the "downstream" effects of the pill and legal abortion have negatively impacted women, especially teenaged girls. It bothers me that it's always women who shut down a 360 discussion of the issue.
